Cosmetic dentistry
A smile you love
How does a smile makeover start?
With a free consultation. Dr. Doaa examines your teeth, listens to what you would like to change and explains which treatments could get you there, before anything is decided.
Smile makeoverDo I need every treatment in the plan?
No. A makeover can be a single treatment or a combination. The plan is built around your goals and your budget, and you choose what to go ahead with.
Smile makeoverAre porcelain veneers part of most makeovers?
Often, when the front teeth are chipped, gappy, misaligned or permanently discoloured. Veneers usually take two or more visits: the teeth are prepared, a digital impression is taken, and the veneers are bonded once they are ready, usually a couple of weeks later.
Smile makeoverHow long does it take to get veneers?
Usually two or more visits. The porcelain takes about one to two weeks to make, and you wear temporary veneers in between.
VeneersDo my teeth need to be filed down?
Usually less than 1mm of the surface is removed so the veneer sits flush. Whenever possible, Dr. Doaa opts for prep-less veneers to preserve your tooth structure.
VeneersCan veneers fix stains that whitening cannot?
Yes. Veneers cover the front surface of the tooth, so they can correct discolouration that does not respond to whitening.
VeneersIs whitening safe for my teeth?
Yes, when it is done professionally. No enamel is removed or damaged, and the treatment does not need injections. Shop-bought products can be ineffective or even harmful.
Teeth whiteningHow long do the results last?
Typically around one year. Even after that, your teeth stay noticeably lighter than they were before treatment.
Teeth whiteningHow white will my teeth get?
Up to eight shades lighter. We show you the shade guide and decide together how white you want to go.
Teeth whiteningBonding, veneer or crown: which do I need?
It depends on the tooth. Bonding is the most conservative, while veneers and crowns are stronger and last longer. Dr. Doaa examines the tooth and recommends what suits it best.
BondingDoes bonding hurt?
Generally not. Little or no enamel is removed, so anaesthesia is usually not required.
BondingHow long does bonding last?
Composite is not as strong as porcelain and does not last as long as a veneer or crown, but it can be repaired or redone easily.
BondingDental implants
Replacing missing teeth
Is implant placement painful?
In most cases it is quick and comfortable, carried out under local anaesthetic. Many patients find it more pleasant than having a tooth taken out.
Dental implantsWill I have a gap while I wait?
No. Dr. Doaa makes sure your smile looks good at every stage of treatment.
Dental implantsI am missing all my teeth. Can implants help?
Yes. A full arch of implants can support a fixed bridge. With the All-on-4 technique, four implants can be placed and loaded with a full arch on the same day, on the upper or lower jaw.
Dental implantsDo I need one implant for every missing tooth?
Not always. Implants can be joined with a bridge, which means less surgery and often a lower cost.
Dental implantsInvisible aligners
Straighter teeth
How do I start?
Book a free consultation. If aligners suit you, we take impressions of your teeth and show you a 3D image of your smile after treatment.
Invisible alignersHow long do I wear them each day?
About 22 hours a day. Every two to three weeks you change to a new set as your teeth move.
Invisible alignersWho makes the aligners?
They are made in a dental lab from your impressions, and Dr. Doaa fits the first set at the clinic.

Everyday care
Why do I need a professional clean if I brush every day?
Plaque that is not removed hardens into tartar, which brushing cannot remove. Only a professional cleaning can.
Cleaning & hygieneIs AirFlow safe?
Yes. It is chemical-free and gentler on teeth and gums than traditional cleaning tools.
Cleaning & hygieneHow can I keep my teeth and gums healthy?
Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, ideally with an electric toothbrush, clean between your teeth with floss or interdental brushes, eat a balanced diet, avoid smoking and come for regular check-ups and cleanings.
Cleaning & hygieneWhy do I need a filling if it does not hurt?
Decay can spread a long way before you feel it. Filling the cavity early stops it spreading, avoids pain and saves the tooth.
White fillingsCan you replace my old metal fillings?
Yes. White fillings can replace old amalgam fillings for a more natural look.
White fillingsAre there alternatives to a filling?
Depending on the damage, veneers, crowns, implants or bridges may suit better. Dr. Doaa will advise on the best option for your tooth.
White fillingsDoes getting a crown hurt?
A local anaesthetic is used, so you should feel no pain. Any discomfort afterwards is usually no more than after a filling.
CrownsHow long does a crown last?
With proper care, many years. The average is between 5 and 15 years.
CrownsHow many visits does it take?
Normally two: one to prepare the tooth and fit a temporary crown, and one to fit the permanent crown.
CrownsBridge or implant?
Both replace a missing tooth. A bridge is only possible when the teeth either side are strong enough to support it, while an implant needs no support from other teeth. Dr. Doaa explains both options for your case.
BridgesHow many visits will I need?
It depends on your case, but normally two to three visits.
BridgesDoes it hurt?
You are given a local anaesthetic, and the procedure is no more uncomfortable than having a filling.
BridgesWhat are the signs I might need a root canal?
Toothache, sensitivity to hot and cold, and pain when eating or drinking. These can fade when the pulp dies, then return with swelling of the face or gums. If that happens, contact us straight away.
Root canalWill I need time off work?
Usually not. You can carry on as normal once the anaesthetic wears off. Full healing takes about a week, so chew carefully and keep up your oral hygiene.
Root canalIs root canal treatment painful?
It is carried out under local anaesthetic and is usually a straightforward procedure, much like having a filling.
Root canalWill it hurt?
A local anaesthetic numbs the area, so you are awake but should not feel pain.
ExtractionCan wisdom teeth be removed here?
Yes, wisdom tooth removal is a common procedure. Dr. Doaa assesses each tooth and explains the approach first.
ExtractionIs it normal to feel small pieces of bone afterwards?
Yes. Small fragments can work their way out of the socket as it heals. This is normal.
ExtractionWho is more likely to get gum disease?
Smoking is one of the biggest risk factors. Hormonal changes, diabetes, some illnesses and medicines that reduce saliva, and genetics can also make gums more vulnerable.
Gum treatmentCan gum disease be reversed?
Gingivitis, the early stage, can usually be reversed with professional cleaning and good daily care. Periodontitis can be controlled with deep cleaning and regular maintenance.
Gum treatmentWill I be awake?
Yes. Procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic, so the area is numb and you should not feel pain.
Oral surgeryHow long is recovery?
It depends on the procedure. Dr. Doaa explains what to expect, and how to look after the area, before treatment.
Oral surgeryWhen should my child first see a dentist?
Early visits help children get used to the dentist before any treatment is needed. Ask us about the right time for your child.
Kids dentistryDo you see children at both clinics?
Please tell us your preferred clinic when you book and we will confirm the appointment with you.
Kids dentistryWhat causes TMJ problems?
Common causes include grinding or clenching the teeth, an uneven bite and stress. An examination helps find the cause in your case.
Jaw pain (TMJ)How is it treated?
Treatment depends on the cause. It can include a custom night guard to protect the teeth and relax the jaw, and correcting the bite where needed.
