A dental implant never needs a filling and is never sensitive. But it still lives in your gum and bone, and those need looking after just like they do around natural teeth.
Every day
- Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, ideally with an electric toothbrush, including around the gum line of the implant.
- Clean between your teeth with floss or interdental brushes. Plaque between teeth is where gum problems start.
- If you have a bridge or denture on implants, clean underneath it as Dr. Doaa shows you.
At the clinic
Regular check-ups and professional cleaning remove the tartar that brushing cannot. AirFlow cleaning is gentle on the gums and reaches below the gum line.
Habits that help
Smoking is one of the biggest risks for the gums, and it can affect how well an implant does over time. A balanced diet and regular visits make a real difference.
When to call us
Bleeding, swelling or soreness around an implant are worth checking early. Call or message the clinic and we will see you.
