Clear aligners straighten teeth with a series of made-to-measure trays. They are barely visible and come out when you eat or brush. Here is what the start of treatment usually looks like.
Before you start
At your consultation, Dr. Doaa checks whether aligners suit you. If they do, impressions of your teeth are taken and you see a 3D image of your expected result before anything is made.
Your first set
Your aligners are made in a dental lab from those impressions, and Dr. Doaa fits the first set at the clinic. She shows you how to put them in, take them out and look after them.
Wearing them every day
Aligners work when you wear them: about 22 hours a day. Take them out to eat and drink anything other than water, then brush before putting them back, so food is not trapped against your teeth.
- Keep your case with you, so the trays are never wrapped in a napkin and lost.
- Rinse the aligners when you take them out, and clean them as shown at the clinic.
- A feeling of pressure for a day or two after a new set is normal: it means your teeth are moving.
Changing trays
Every two to three weeks you move to a new set, and your teeth gradually shift into place. Treatment is measured in months, not years.
Questions along the way are welcome. If a tray feels wrong or you lose one, call or message the clinic.
