Children’s first visits to the dentist shape how they feel about dental care for years. The goal of a first visit is simple: a calm, friendly experience.
Before the visit
- Talk about the visit in a relaxed, positive way. Keep it simple: the dentist will count and look at their teeth.
- Avoid words like “hurt” or “pain”, even to reassure. Children pick up on them.
- Choose a time of day when your child is usually rested.
At the clinic
Dr. Doaa takes time to show children the chair, the light and the tools, and explains in simple words what she is doing. There is no rush: getting comfortable is part of the visit.
After the visit
Praise your child and talk about what went well. Keep up brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, help younger children brush, and keep sweet snacks and drinks for mealtimes.
Regular check-ups catch problems early, when treatment is simplest, and make each visit feel familiar.
